In 1992 Neil was at Comix Experience on Divisidero doing a book signing for the release of his special leather bound 'Seasons of the Mist' book tour. I didn't ask for his signiture for the line was long, but hung around buying comics and observing; I ended up buying one signed a few days after wards. Later that evening he ended up hanging out with Jwlhyfer de Winter, who happened to be a large source for the material that was used by Neil on his writings about Joshua Abraham Norton in issues 17 & 18 of Sandman. Funny thing, I had started buying Sandman at issue number 8, and never thought that it would get so big. I, of course, had to purchase the remaining previous issues to complete the collection. To my knowledge, Bummer and Lazerus (stuffed and sitting in two taverns, or bars) were both lost to the great fire after the 1906 earth quake. Though, there is still a rumor of one of the dogs sitting somewhere in the basement of the De Young?
